                 The Oriflame dream began in Stockholm, Sweden in 1967 when two brothers Jonas and Robert of Jochnick together with their friend Bengt Hellsten decided to start their own business ; to create a cosmetic company with the following unique features……

1 In 2015, 98% of our catalogue paper came from credibly certified forests.
2  In 2015, the Noginsk production site in Russia received Silver certification using the LEED® for New Construction rating system. In addition Oriflame's new Wellness facility in Roorkee, India received Gold certification under the LEED® for New Construction rating system.
3  We stopped more than 90% of our manufacturing waste from going to landfill in 2015.
4  Since 2010, we have cut our carbon dioxide emissions by 31%. In 2015 they decreased by 6% comparing to 2014.
5  Oriflame reached a score of 99B in the CDP 2015 climate change evaluation - an international recognition for our actions to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate the business risks of climate change.
6 In 2013, WWF gave us 11 out 12 on their Palm oil Scorecard, placing us among the best in our industry.
7  We undertook a comprehensive water impact study in 2013 and are working to reduce impact focusing mainly on emissions to water from our products.

What processes does an oriflame product undergoes?
An Oriflame product’s life begins at our Skin Research Institute, where sophisticated science is used to create unique and sometimes-patented technologies that give us the leading edge on our competitors. These new technologies are then passed on to the scientists in our Product Development Centre in Dublin, Ireland, whose role it is to create a cosmetic formula that fits within an existing Oriflame brand or has the potential to begin a new one, bringing it to manufacture and enabling its sales.
What extent of science is indulged in making of oriflame products?
oriflame has almost a 50 years of advanced skin care research, 160 scientists with technical expertise and around 7000 panelists testing oriflame products
To what extent are oriflame products safe?
oriflame products undergo 150 clinical tests and consumer tests are conducted per year  each product enters the market after a five years of human testing.

                     From the ingredients we source, through to how we package, manufacture and distribute our products; we seek to protect the environment at every stage. We strive to source natural ingredients from renewable and ethical sources. We also continually strive to reduce our carbon footprint, our water consumption and minimize pollution.  As a global company we also recognize our responsibility for the local communities in the areas we operate and have chosen specifically to support children in need and young women through many social cause programmes in the education for life area.

We are committed to marketing products that meet our own social and ethical standards, and those of our customers.
Oriflame cares about animal welfare and endangered species and we have high standards for all materials we source:
·         We do not use animal fur and only accept leather from cattle that have been bred for human consumption.
·         For some products, we use selectively sourced animal by-products – such as beeswax and honey, lanolin derivatives (a secretion from wool-bearing animals) and dairy products.
·         We do not use plucked animal hair or feathers and only accept animal hair and feathers cut from living, domesticated animals including pony, goat and boar.
·         We use fish oil from sustainably managed stocks in our Wellness food supplements range.
We have never tested our products or ingredients on animals at any stage during product development. We have always advocated alternative test methods and use the latest in-vitro (non-animal) methods for any tests that are not appropriate for human volunteers

SAFETY AND SUSTAINABILITY OF ORIFLAME PRODUCTS :

Fragrance:

We go beyond compliance with legal requirements, following our own strict guidelines on the use of certain fragrance compounds, fragrance allergens and the levels of fragrance in our products – in particular for sensitive groups like babies and children.

Plastic microbeads:

We are removing plastic microbeads from our formulations; since 2014, all new product developments are using exfoliants from natural origin.

Mineral oil:

We are actively evaluating alternatives for mineral oils and replacing them with plant-derived alternatives.

Preservatives:

Preservatives help keep our products safe, and everything we use complies with the most stringent international cosmetic regulations. We are very selective and, where possible, use significantly less than the recommended maximum.

Parabens:

Parabens are a common kind of preservative. We only use specific parabens that are safe and fully compliant with regulations and usually use well below the legal limits. We are aware of our consumers’ interest in this topic and as a result offer certain paraben-free ranges.

Triclosan:

Triclosan is antibacterial and antifungal agent that has been inconclusively linked to environmental damage. We phased out its use globally in 2002.
Looking ahead, we will continue to review the safety and sustainability profile of our ingredients in line with our sustainability commitments.
